You will own all accounting, tax compliance, and financial reporting — giving leadership the accurate, timely financial picture needed to make high-stakes decisions during our pre-seed and seed phases. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate books of accounts and ensure all financial records are audit-ready Handle all KRA tax compliance obligations, including VAT, PAYE, corporate income tax, and withholding tax Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Manage payroll processing and employee statutory deductions (NHIF, NSSF, PAYE) Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments and customer invoicing Support the CEO in investor reporting, financial modelling, and budget tracking Establish and enforce internal financial controls and expense policies Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 3 years of professional accounting experience in Kenya CPA (K) certification or equivalent; active member of ICPAK is preferred Strong working knowledge of Kenyan tax law and KRA online filing systems (iTax) Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or equivalent) Experience supporting a startup or SME in a standalone finance role is a significant advantage High integrity, discretion, and the ability to work independently without close supervision Show more Show less
