Job Overview

The Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Officer will support the finance team in managing daily accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. This role involves processing invoices, payments, and receipts, reconciling accounts, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with month-end close. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, with a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and excellent attention to detail.

Duties And Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable (AR)

Prepare and issue customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner. Record customer payments and reconcile accounts. Monitor outstanding receivables, follow up on overdue accounts, and escalate when necessary. Assist with credit control and debt collection activities. Maintain accurate records of customer transactions.

Accounts Payable (AP)

Review and process supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. Prepare and schedule supplier/vendor payments. Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies. Maintain up-to-date records of accounts payable transactions. Support vendor management and respond to supplier queries.

General Finance & Administration

Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations. Maintain organised filing systems for financial documents (digital and physical). Support the finance team with ad hoc analysis, reporting, and audits as required. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations.

Qualifications

Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.

Experience

At least 2-4 years of experience in accounts receivable, accounts payable, or general accounting support. Experience using accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, SAP, Oracle, DEXT, Hubdoc, or similar tools).

Technical Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Strong data entry skills with accuracy and attention to detail.

Competencies

Solid understanding of basic accounting principles. Strong organisational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle discrepancies.
