Diploma/Degree in Optometry from a recognized institution.

Valid practicing license from the Optometrists Association of Kenya and/or relevant regulatory authority.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a hospital or accredited eye care setting.

Strong knowledge of refractive techniques and ocular disease screening.

Proficiency in EMR systems and optical dispensing processes.

Excellent patient communication and counseling skills.

High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and ethical conduct.

Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity testing, refraction, slit lamp examination, and ocular health assessment.

Diagnose and manage refractive errors and common ocular conditions within the scope of practice.

Prescribe and dispense corrective lenses, spectacles, and other optical devices as appropriate.

Detect early signs of ocular diseases and refer complex cases to ophthalmologists or specialized facilities.

Perform basic diagnostic procedures such as tonometry and visual field testing.

Provide patient education on eye care, preventive measures, and management of chronic eye conditions.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient records in EMR systems.

Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control measures in the eye clinic.

Maintain and perform routine checks on optometric equipment to ensure accuracy and safety.

Participate in outreach programs and community eye health promotion initiatives.

Monitor optical stock levels and ensure proper management of lenses and consumables.

Participate in clinical audits, SafeCare assessments, and continuous quality improvement activities.

Ensure compliance with national optometry regulatory standards and licensing requirements.
