Company Description Africa Climate and Energy Nexus (AfCEN) is an Africa-led platform committed to advancing climate-positive growth through climate technology, AI, and data-driven strategies. Inspired by the Nairobi Declaration from the 2023 Africa Climate Summit, AfCEN collaborates with governments, investors, and innovators to scale transformative solutions. Our efforts focus on seven key areas, including Renewable Energy, Climate Finance, Sustainable Agriculture, and Nature Capital, with the goal of powering 300 million Africans with clean energy by 2030 and promoting green manufacturing. Role Description This is a full-time hybrid contract role for a Fullstack Engineer specializing in AI Agentic Development, based in Nairobi, Kenya, with flexible on-site and remote work arrangements .

You will build fullstack applications across the AfCEN platform and develop AI agents and agentic workflows, autonomous systems that perform real work, not just respond to prompts. Responsibilities include designing and maintaining scalable back-end and front-end systems, building and orchestrating AI agents, integrating AI/ML models into production applications, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver intelligent, agent-driven solutions.

Qualifications Strong fullstack development skills — you ship end-to-end, from server-side architecture and APIs to responsive front-end interfaces Proficiency in modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, or similar), HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript AI agentic development experience — you've built, deployed, or orchestrated AI agents in production, not just experimented with them Solid understanding of software development principles — testing, debugging, CI/CD, and lifecycle management Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team Experience with sustainable tech or climate-focused solutions is a plus Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

NOTE: First priority will be given to candidates with a finance, accounting, or economics background domain understanding of capital flows, fund operations, and investment intelligence is a strong advantage
