Senior Accountant

We are seeking a highly competent and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and support strategic financial decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, accuracy, and leadership capability.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and manage all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and financial reporting processes

Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring full compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal reporting requirements

Ensure full compliance with tax, statutory, and regulatory obligations, including timely preparation and submission of VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, and other statutory filings

Manage and perform bank reconciliations, supplier and customer reconciliations, and general ledger reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are identified, investigated, and resolved promptly

Maintain accurate and complete financial records, ledgers, and supporting documentation, ensuring proper audit trails and adherence to internal controls

Support and lead the budgeting and forecasting process, including preparation of budgets, monitoring performance against budgets, and conducting variance analysis

Provide financial analysis and insights to management to support decision-making, including cost analysis, revenue trends, and profitability assessments

Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring optimal utilization of funds and maintaining adequate liquidity for operational needs

Develop, implement, and continuously improve accounting processes, internal controls, and financial systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance

Supervise, guide, and review the work of junior accounting staff, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to company policies and procedures

Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules, responding to audit queries, and ensuring timely resolution of audit findings

Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors, tax consultants, banks, and regulatory authorities on financial and compliance matters

Ensure proper asset management and tracking, including maintaining fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, and periodic asset verification

Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and payments while maintaining strong cash management practices

Identify financial risks and implement appropriate risk mitigation measures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity

Support payroll validation processes by reviewing payroll reports, statutory deductions, and ensuring alignment with financial records

Prepare and present management reports and financial summaries to senior leadership, highlighting key financial performance indicators and areas of concern

Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records for compliance, audit readiness, and ease of retrieval

Perform any other finance and accounting-related duties as may be assigned from time to time in line with the role

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

CPA (K) or equivalent professional qualification

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role

Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and financial regulations

Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel

High level of integrity, accuracy, and accountability
