Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979, which has since been amended to Science, Technology and Innovation Act 2013. The 1979 Act established KEMRI as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya.Key Responsibilities: Receive and consent participants referred to the Eremet onsite laboratory for specimen collection Perform phlebotomy and prepare samples for investigation purposes Collect oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swabs as required Accurately label and analyze samples (blood, NP/OPs, tissue etc.) Proper documentation of applicable study data during all study procedures Perform routine maintenance of lab equipment Monitor the status of laboratory supplies and make necessary orders Complete QA/QC assignments on laboratory data, samples and records Keep lab work areas clean and organized Assist with laboratory administrative duties.
