The Central Bank of Kenya is a public institution established under Article 231 of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010. The Bank is responsible for formulating monetary policy to achieve and maintain price stability and issuing currency. Pursuant to the CBK Act, the Central Bank promotes financial stability through regulation, supervision and licensing of financial institutions under its mandate. The Bank also provides oversight of payment, clearing and settlement systems. All these efforts are geared towards fostering liquidity, solvency and proper functioning of the financial system. The Bank also formulates and implements foreign exchange policy and manages foreign exchange reserves. CBK is the banker for, adviser to, and fiscal agent of the Government. In discharging its mandate, the Central Bank contributes to the country’s economic development and growth, and promotes the interest of the public. The Bank strives to carry out its statutory mandate effectively and efficiently guided by the principles of integrity and transparency.Job Purpose The job holder is responsible for the collection and analysis of the performance and health of payment systems in Kenya. Key Duties and Responsibilities Technical and Operational Responsibilities Review and design NPS returns templates. Ensure timely submission of NPS returns. Implement an integrated information system for electronic submission of NPS returns. Ensure that data received is processed and required standard reports generated. Design and produce periodic standard analytical reports. Perform analysis and verification of Payment data. Update the statistics on the CBK website. Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports. Develop and implement a payment system database, a data collection system, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality. Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources to enhance the payment systems information. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets. Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct data errors. Work with management to prioritize business and information needs. Locate and define new process improvement opportunities. Draft research papers and basic reports on the analysis of the data collected. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field e.g. Mathematics, Economics or Statistics. Professional qualifications and memberships are an added advantage. Work Experience At least two (2) years’ experience in Payments and Banking operations or other related area.
