Kenya Maritime Authority was set up in June 2004 as the semi-autonomous agency in charge of regulatory oversight over the Kenyan maritime industry. As the pacesetter of the Kenyan maritime industry, the Authority seeks to strengthen maritime administration in Kenya through enhancement of regulatory and institutional capacities for maritime safety and security, to foster effective implementation of international maritime conventions and other mandatory instruments on safety, security, promote maritime training, Search and Rescue, pollution prevention and the preservation of the marine environment as well as promote trade facilitation and maritime investments.Key Responsibilities Monitoring of industry performance standards Undertaking statistical analysis on industry performance standards, maritime transport costs and other related commercial maritime activities Determining and implementing the use of appropriate statistical software in the computation, manipulation and analysis of data on commercial maritime services; Coordinating the publication of statistical reports on freight and other related maritime transport costs, and service standards of maritime transport services; Assisting in conducting/coordinating shippers’ awareness workshops on international trade Facilitation/INCOTERMS; Writing reports during trade facilitation workshops; Assist in monitoring and evaluation relating to the implementation of Mombasa Port Community Charter and Memorandum of cooperation; Collecting progress implementation reports from the port community players; Assist in compilation of data for Mombasa Port Community Charter and Memorandum of cooperation; Assist in writing quarterly, mid-term and annual reports related to Mombasa Port Community Charter and Memorandum of cooperation; Assist in organizing meetings of the Mombasa Port Community Charter and Memorandum of cooperation; Carry out mining and analysis of data on standards of maritime transport services; Assist in coordinating implementation of FAL Convention; Assisting in coordination of the development of maritime cluster; Assisting in collaboration with other institutions to implement programmes on development of maritime cluster Assisting in conducting publicity campaigns to promote investments on maritime cluster. Develop and maintain a database on investments in the maritime cluster (including related to maritime services, coastal shipping, inland waterways, multimodal transport and natural resources); Assisting in organizing workshops, seminars and conferences to sensitize relevant stakeholders on the development of maritime cluster; Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s Degree Business Management Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration (Finance and Accounting option) Bachelor’s Degree Maritime Studies Bachelor’s Degree Port Management Bachelor of Dental Surgery Bachelor’s Degree Transport Economics Supervisory Course (at least 2 weeks) EXPERIENCE At least 3 years of which should have been at the level of senior officer.
