Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services supporting the U.S. government, allied partners, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Transportation Accountant to support a unique U.S. Navy program located on the remote island of Diego Garcia.
Job Responsibilities
The Transportation Accountant provides accounting and financial support for transportation and logistics operations in accordance with Navy financial policies and established accounting standards. Responsibilities include tracking transportation costs, reviewing invoices, reconciling charges, and maintaining accurate financial records related to freight, cargo movement, and transportation services.
The Transportation Accountant reviews shipping documentation, validates billing accuracy, and ensures costs are properly allocated and recorded. This role includes supporting budget tracking, preparing financial reports, and assisting with audits or reviews related to transportation expenditures.
Additional duties include maintaining accounting files, supporting internal controls, coordinating with transportation and logistics personnel to resolve discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with financial and contractual requirements. The Transportation Accountant contributes to accurate cost management and financial accountability in a remote, mission‑driven environment.
Minimum Requirements
1–3 years of experience in accounting, finance, transportation accounting, or related field High school diploma or equivalent Basic understanding of accounting principles, cost tracking, and financial reconciliation Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and accounting or financial tracking systems Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Must be in possession of a valid Passport and be able to travel internationally. Passport should be valid for a minimum of 1 plus years at the time of hiring. Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce. Excellent organizational, time management and customer service skills. Valid country driver's license Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
