Within UNEP, the Public Sector Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Unit (PSP&RMU) plays a critical role in managing corporate funding relationships, supporting resource mobilization, and ensuring effective financial monitoring and reporting. The unit provides strategic insights on funding trends, strengthens partnerships with Member States, and supports transparent reporting on income streams, including the Environment Fund, flexible funding, and earmarked contributions.
The Income and Funding Partner Analyst provides technical and analytical support to UNEP’s Corporate Services Division in Nairobi. The role focuses on financial analysis, funding partner intelligence, reporting, and strengthening systems for resource mobilization and income tracking.
Key Responsibilities
- Funding Data Systems & Analytics Support operationalization of the Funding Intelligence Portal, including migration of data from existing platforms (e.g., Power BI). Maintain and update databases and tracking systems for funding agreements and partner contributions.
- Financial Monitoring & Reporting Monitor and analyse compliance and financial implementation of corporate funding agreements. Track funding allocations, expenditures, and utilization rates against approved budgets. Contribute to preparation of financial reports and income analysis for management and Member States.
- Funding Partner Intelligence Prepare funding profiles of Member States and analyse funding trends, priorities, and patterns. Support resource mobilization efforts by providing data-driven insights at global and regional levels.
- Financial Transactions & Data Management Handle financial transactions related to Member State contributions, including invoicing, receipts, and cash application. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for tracking and reporting purposes.
- Knowledge Management & Communication Maintain up-to-date financial and funding information on internal and external platforms. Support preparation of presentations, reports, and knowledge products related to income and partnerships.
Profile Required Experience Minimum 3 years relevant experience, including: Financial analysis, reporting, or accounting Experience in data analysis, visualization, and storytelling (e.g., Power BI or similar tools) Experience in resource mobilization or partnership analysis is an asset Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills Ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments
Education Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field. Additional qualifications (e.g., CPA, CFA, IPFM, Data Science) are highly desirable.
Languages Fluent English Working knowledge of French is an asset
