Role Description
The candidate for this position will take ownership of the company's tax compliance, from preparing and filing CIT, VAT, PAYE and WHT to reconciling the records against KRA systems, and act as day-to-day contact with KRA and external tax advisers. Alongside this, they will support the finance team with SAP accounting, invoice review and banking tasks. The role is 70% tax and 30% accounting, and suits someone who is dependable, spots issues early and is comfortable working with auditors and tax authorities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tax & Compliance
Independently prepare tax computations, filings and payments, including CIT, VAT, PAYE and other applicable taxes, in line with statutory deadlines
Support cross-border WHT compliance and help prepare transfer pricing documentation
Perform regular reconciliations across SAP, KRA systems, eTIMS and tax filings, and follow up on discrepancies
Communicate directly with KRA and external tax advisers on routine matters and information requests
Support tax audits and regulatory reviews with reconciliations, schedules and supporting documents
Accounting & Finance Support
Assist with SAP accounting, invoice review and document management
Support routine banking matters and provide backup when the accountant is unavailable
Audit & Ad Hoc Support
Respond quickly to urgent tax and finance requests, especially during month-end closing, annual audits and tax audits
Qualifications & Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation or a related field
Fully qualified Kenya CPA or ACCA (strongly preferred)
2-3 years of relevant tax/accounting experience, able to handle routine tax filing and compliance independently
Hands-on experience supporting tax audits and annual statutory audits
1-2 years of SAP accounting experience, with solid knowledge of daily postings
Hands-on experience with KRA iTax, eTIMS and other Kenyan tax systems
Experience with Chinese or multinational companies (highly preferred)
